Thanks for the several helpful responses sent to me, none sent to the
reflector for some reason. For those hoping to read a reply on the
reflector, the summary (in no particular order) is:
(1) www.contesting.com allows searching all parts of the site,
including TowerTalk (duh, should have looked there)
(2) QST ran a good series of articles about this subject (but I've
been unable to find it...)
(3) The industry standard spec for computing wind load (and etc) on
tower structures is TIA/EIA-222-F
(4) Some tools are available at www.championradio.com and
www.freeyellow.com:8080/members3/yagistress/
(5) NCJ has had numerous articles, check out
http://www.arrl.org/ncj/index/antennas-towers.html for details of
which articles are in which issues
(6) Old editions of NAB had the calculations, maybe new ones do too
(7) www.eham.net/search does a great job of searching
www.contesting.com and www.qth.net
(8) QEX Feb and March 99 has some information
(9) The Rohn catalog is a good reference for making tower calculations
(10) Names/calls mentioned as having posted useful information that
can be found by searching:
Steve Sawyers N0YVY, Kurt Andress K7NV, Stanley Griffiths W7NI, Hank
Lonberg KR7X, Tom Russell, N4KG.
Thanks for the tremendous jump start on this subject to all of you!
