ST. JOHN'S, Antigua
                         (Reuters) - Authorities on
                         the Caribbean island of
                         Antigua have agreed to
                         relocate a cellular phone
                          antenna tower after
                         villagers staged a protest
               complaining they could suffer
               radiation effects.

A group of 50 people from the
               village of Buckleys protested outside
               government offices Wednesday then
met with Prime Minister Lester Bird
               and Public Utilities Minister Robin
                Yearwood.

"Your cause is a just one," Bird said,
telling them the tower would be
               moved.

The villagers said they were not
consulted on the construction of the
tower by the state-run Antigua Public
                Utilities Authority (APUA). They
said it was too close to a school and
residential area and they feared that
radiation emitted from it could be
               dangerous.

APUA, in a statement, assured the
villagers the tower was too high to
               pose a health hazard.
