Freight damage happens. It's *much* easier to spot bent metal on a
single section than it is for a crank-up. Sometimes you don't know you have
any damage until the first time you crank it up.

ERRRHHHH! Yeah, 30 sq.ft. @ 60 MPH. That won't make the minimum for
ANY building department permit in the country; the minimum is 70 MPH and it
goes up from there.

There ARE valid reasons to install a crank-up. There are also valid
reasons to install a self-supporter or a guyed tower. Only you as the owner
can decide what's important for you and what you're willing to pay for it.
