a year ago i got a rebuild kit for the kt34xa from klm. the kit consisted
of 40 plastic capacitor ends (blue color ) and a complete set of the
capacitor tubes. today while doing the trap rebuild i noticed that 6 of
the 40 plastic caps had inclusions in the plastic inside the 3/8 hole.
in a couple of them the outer capacitor tube was visible thru the
inclusion by looking thru the 3/8 hole for the inner capacitor tube. it
appears that the distance between the inner and outer tubes is only a
1/16 or so. these caps must be molded and it looks like for some reason
the mold did not fill completely.. i was able to finish the job with
parts from a wrecked kt34a ( 2yrs old, green caps ). if anyone has one
of these kits i would examine the plastic caps carefully as a short for
whatever reason between the cap tubes is certainly not a desireable
situation
the fellow who emailed me and said you had a xm240D for sale never
answered my message that said i would take it, so i am still looking for
a 2el 40 to stack above the kt34xa. i would also be interested in
another kt34xa if anyone has one they want to part with.
someone commented that the 40-2CD stacked well above the kt34xa but the
xm240 and force 12 antennas did not for some reason, comments would be
appreciated t.y. w8zh
