Hi Mark,
I see from QRZ.com that you're in Mocksville. I'm in Elm City near
Rocky Mount and Wilson. The Rohn 45 is not suitable for a free standing
tower above perhaps 30 ft. with the sort of antenna you've described.
Even then, the 30 ft. is only satisfactory up to wind speeds of 70 mph.
You've got 2 choices, build a house bracketed tower or a "guyed" tower. A
single set of guy wires 40 ft. out from the base going to the top of the
tower, will suffice. That will be strong enough to withstand 110 mph
winds. You will need 1/4" EHS guy wire. I would strongly suggest that you
purchase a copy of the Rohn tower Engineering manual from Champion Radio
Products(K7LXC) . You really need to study the whole thing yourself. Its
much too involved to ask a few questions and proceed. 73 es G/L. Roy
