Great lab story.  Although I don't worry about my golden retrievers running headlong into trees as they are much smarter than labs, I do worry about them being decapitated by guys wires and smashing into anchor rods.  Dogs just don't see that sort of thing when they are running full bore after a smaller critter.  I've surrounded these spots on the ground with logs cut from trees that were in the way of by towers.

Obligatory tower/antenna note: OH1JT kindly sent me the YO file for the OH0Z 40M antennas that were being discussed a bit ago on the reflector. The boom is ~3M long and the model shows ~6.7 dbi and ~11db F/B.  Doesn't cover the whole band, but it's a neat little antenna.
