I agree with the above and the top or bell only goes on and works properly
in one position.  It will go on but may only work in part of the range if it
is not positioned correctly.  I did the same thing on a HAM4.  That's when I
learned it only works one way.  Those little tabs built in to the top of the
bell must match up correctly with the rheostat and there must be proper
tension for contact to be made.
