Hi Jack,
Some years ago, Mike Dudy, owner of Lightning Bolt Quads designed a 7 band
quad for me that was priced around $1500. It was too big for me, so the
decision was nixed. It had 2 elements on both 30 and 40 with 4 on the
remaining 5 bands, 6 spreaders in all. Believe the boom was 24'. Later he
designed one that had linear loaded elements for 30 and 40 but decided
against it because it was untested in field use. Not sure whether it was
modeled or not. Since that time I believe he has sold a number of 7 band
quads. I'm sure most of us would be interested if he is building these
monsters.
Many people in this area have used his quads since he is so close and
displays at the local 'fests. Have not heard of a single one coming down due
to wind or ice. Based on my observation of its construction, it appears
well made and should last a while, albeit not as long as an aluminum yagi.
Just my 2 cents.
