I have a pair of cable shears that I paid about $12
for that cut 1/4" and 5/16" stainless cable like it
was copper wire. It is easy, one handed, no sweat, no
fuss, no muss, no saw blades, no tape. Just cut like
a pair of dikes cutting copper wire.

I got them at Orchard Supply Hardware, which is now
owned by Sears. They are about 9" long, about the
same size as an average pair of dikes.

No work at all.
