    Well, 6061-T6 aluminum has a yield strength of about 35,000 psi. The 
water pipe *might* be around the same figure but they aren't rated for 
strength, just carrying liquids.

    BTW, Ramsey County is an 80 MPH windspeed zone so use of either of these 
materials is very limited. What are you proposing to put on the mast?
