Hello, Sam
I am Ken Hirschberg, president of CAL-AV LABS, Inc. Regarding the Titanex
80-10, and a similar line manufactured in the U.S. by CAL-AV and in
beta-testing, but not yet announced: The Titanex is just like the "all-band"
horizontal dipoles that everyone knows and loves, except that it is a vertical
version. Yes, the balanced line should come away at right angles to the
dipole. Tuning is accomplished not by loading, but in the tuner, which, of
course must be one that can handle the high voltages that will occur at its
terminals at some frequencies.
Our line is known as the Balanced Vertical Radiator, or BVR-XX series. It is
offered both as a balanced line fed dipole, like the Titanex, _and_ as an
end-wire loaded, hairpin matched mono / multi band radiator.
Properly installed, either the Titanex or our BVR series will be excellent
performers. A BVR-24 configured for multi-band operation on both 40 and 30
meters, is currently undergoing beta-testing at N6PKT, who has related "big
sig" reports. Full information will appear on our web page at: www.cal-av.com,
under "antennas" in about 45 days.

Sincerely, Ken K6HPX
