Hi,
I have a daydream. I would like to be a happy owner of two towers (HF+VHF)
regardless of my shoestring budget.
I have a couple of good fellows who are experts in welding, galvanizing, etc
but they haven't built any kind of towers heretofore and that's why I'm
asking for Yours help.
Have You done homebrew towers and/or do You have verified dimensions for the
most important parts of towers (OD and wall thickness of side rails, braces,
...). HF tower would be 80-100 feet long and about 40 feet would be enough
for VHF. Telescopic construction would be very nice but not essential.
I prefer steel to aluminium but what kind of steel I shoud use? I expect
that towers can get through 'normal' storms but anyhow I would avoid
overdesign. Station is located inland and heavy storms are uncommon.
Any comments? I would be grateful for any kind of information.
