Utility post type insulators work well. They're pretty much immune to
ultraviolet, RF, dust etc (salt spray washes off). They have a great
cantilever strength plus if you can get the ones with bolt holes in both
ends you can mount just about anything you want.
Most utilities have these laying around in the bone yard and may let you
have a couple if you'll dismantle them. The color doesn't matter; sky gray
or brown they're all the same. A few chips won't hurt either just go to a
electrical supply house and ask for Glyptol. This is a varnish like stuff
that is used on high voltage connections. Seals up to porcelain.
