The wideband design has excellent performance throughout the 10m band with
6 elements on a boom of about 0.75 wl. The antenna should play with the
EZNEC modeling and Leeson corrections for stepped diameters. I'd also throw
in Leeson corrections for element to boom clamps (won't hurt). You can find
those in Leeson's "Physical Design of Yagi Antennas" book. If you don't,
your beam may resonate a bit low in frequency.

Checking out front to back ratio is pretty easy by having your friend send
a tone while you rotate your antenna. Absolute gain is a lot tougher, but
if you're getting the F/B, you're probably also getting the gain.
