[TowerTalk] slingshot safety

On my new QTH, I hired and paid exactly $100 for a semi-retired logger to
put loops around two trees at about the 100' level. Be careful with pulleys
as they can get all tangled up and become useless. I used
a 2" ring on the loop going around the tree/limb. The rope around the ring
isnt as easy as a pulley to pull rope through though. Sometimes I pull a
pulley up to the ring and that way can get a tangled pulley back
down. Dont skimp on the rope size. I find that a stiff 1/4" poly(?) is far
less likely to tangle in the limbs than 1/8" or so nylon. Also be sure to
keep slack out of the rope as the wind can wind limbs around the rope or
vice-versa.
I now have 8 acres so I dont have to worry about arrows and lead weights
falling on anybody--just worry about hitting seagulls and crows!!!!!
PS I'm all for metal towers and will soon go that route.
