A word of caution:
I purchased about 7000' of wire at Boeing surplus and upon first use, I
found that it was not solderable with regular solder. This has made me
wonder if it is good for antenna use. I will appreciate any and all
information as to its suitability for antenna or radial use.
Boeing (BMS) sticker reads BMS13-48D-T22C1GA18R and includes "COATING:
TEFZEL".
The reel is imprinted "JUDD WIRE INC." and "IRRADIATED AIRCRAFT WIRE AND
CABLE"
The wire ha printing "D/W 48 XX11/1-18 12703. The wire is 19 strand ,
measures .048" diameter and about 3 ohms for a 500' piece. Each strand is
very shiny like polished stainless steel and has absolutely no copper
appearance. The wire has two insulations, an inner white and an outer red
What is irradiated wire and its purpose?
My response to an e-mail to Judd Wire was not informative--but then I
purchased this wire as Boeing surplus so cant critisize Judd!

I would appreciate If anyone can help identify its composition. The jacket
