4 years ago i erected a 150ft ab-105 tower. i prepped it by washing it
with a 4000psi pressure washer to remove the loose paint. i painted the
bottom 60 ft with bruning " silthane alkyd enamel ", machine gray. i did
no preparation other than the pressure wash, no acid rinses or anything
else. 4 years later there is no sign of deterioration of the paint of any
kind.  the gray does provide a degree of camoflage as the top 90 ft still
has some orange and white paint on it and from a distance appears to
float with no support. i have used this paint here on the farm in our
milkhouse which is wet most  of the time and on other galvanizedm stuff
with excellent results.  hope this helps.....w8zh
