[TowerTalk] Vertical in salt water- questions?

I am mounting a vertical at the water's edge of a saltwater river.  (in 
Florida)   I am mounting it on a galvanized water pipe.  It needs to be 
mounted about 2 ' above high tide in order to protect the base of the antenna 
from high waves.  I've heard some say to use at least 2 radials per band to 
keep the impedence constant... but that would be hard to do at this QTH.  
Please advise what experiences you have had with "verticals in saltwater"!
