K1VR and N6BV "wrote the book" on this subject, and Fred's exactly right.
Moreover, short-boom tribanders seem to be somewhat less forgiving than big
ones like the TH-6, TH-7 and KT-34XA. I modeled my C-3 stack (28-foot
spacing) with a small 10-meter yagi in between, and while it added a little
gain on that band I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. If I put the full
tribander in between (in the model), the 15 and 20-meter performance was
actually less than a single antenna.
