Pete, It works just fine here. My tower is 100' tall with 3 sets of EHS
guys well broken up with insulators. At about 108' is a 40-2CD 2 element
40 meter beam. I have a KT34XA at 100', another KT34XA on a
Ringrotor at 64', and a third XA at 32' on a swing-arm sidemount. There
are 4 ropes from the top of the tower to various tie points that support
the 4 vertical wires that make up my 80m 4-sq. I shunt feed the tower
for 160m at about 62' using 4 wires in a small cage configuration. I have
36 1/4 wave ground radials for 160. Also each of the 4 80m wire
verticals has 36 radials.

I am very pleased with the performance on 160m. I generally compete
in the CQ 160m SSB contest in the M/S class with several friends
from the local DX club (NODXA). We usually do pretty well. Also many
of the major DX expeditions have been worked on 160.

I did originally try to use elevated radials but it just did not work all
that well. The ground radials made a big difference here.

I would some day like to computer model the entire system but that will
have to wait till I have software that can handle more than 500 segments.

Give shunt feeding a try and see what happens.
