[TowerTalk] Dissimilar boom sizes - how to put them together?

Dear TT'ers,

I have a 24' piece of 2" OD, 1 3/4" ID aluminum boom about .125" wall. I
need to extend it to about 32' for a 20 meter beam.

The 1 3/4" tubing that I have will not fit inside the 2" boom, and some 1
5/8" tubing that fits quite loosely. Ideally I could use 1 11/16" tubing
but no one (including Texas Towers) seems to have any. I would prefer a
"tight fit" but will use the 1 5/8" if there are no other options.

I would like to have about 3' of the tubing inside the 24' boom and have
about 4' extending out of the 24' boom on each end and then would bolt or
screw the two pieces together and then use silicone seal to fill in the
"gaps" where the two pieces join.

I have a feeling that here is a better way to join these pieces together in
a more secure and mechanically sound fashion, or maybe someone has a source
of 1 11/16" OD aluminum tubing?

Your thoughts and suggestions please?

Tnx & 73
