Hello TT's and 75 ohm hardline users ...
Filing down the center conductor might be a no-no anyhow. All the
stuff I ever messed with used a copper clad aluminum center
conductor. Take a piece of that center conductor to any hardware or
hobby store and buy a piece of tubing that fits over it snuggly.
There are dozens of different ID types available to the hobbyist.
Almost all hardware stores have a hobby section where you can buy
these pieces of tubing. Oh, that tubing will be brass. It is about
the same as far I know as copper. Just has bronze in it to give it
some strength. Solder it in place and you have the center conductor
all fixed up.
Don't know if one of my notes made it or not, so I will include the
jest of it also. On the outside of the hardline I use regular thin
roof flashing held in place with several hose clamps. I goop up the
"fitting" with my favorite waterproofing goop when I am done.
