Hi Paul!    Universal makes a great tower.   I have had one for 25 years (not 
quite the
same configuration as I now have when I first put one up) and like them a 
lot.    
They seem to weather the storm well and always looking sparkling new.    
I would suggest getting the 30 inch base and do put a thrust bearing on the 
top.
Do not tighten the rotor plate too tight or you will weaken the top section 
where it 
mounts by crimping the structure.   Keep the beam within a foot of the neck 
of the
tower if you can.  

One nice thing about the Universal is that you can tip it over for service 
and can
also climb it easily if your prefer.     You pay more for aluminum towers 
than steel
but worth the extra expense as they dont rust!
