Hello guys,
Just a short note to tell you guys what I have found. I installed my Cushcraft
X7 in July this year, and have been VERY pleased with it. One of the things
I had remembered reading about it from other guys, was its good performance
on 12 and 17m, and also on 40m. I tested my X7 SWR at the feed point while
it was on the ground, pointed up, and also on the tower. The SWR was below
1.3 on 10,15, and 20m, also noted it was 1.5 on 12m, and 1.8 on 17m. Since I
had read that it was good on the upper part of 40m. I tested it there also, and
found it to be 1.8 at 7300.

Well, here is the scoop.
On 10-25, at 0255Z E30TA in the log
On 10-27, at 1125z K5K in the log, 1st call
These are the only DX i have even tried on 40m with it. I did check with my
dipole at 80ft, and the E30 was slightly stronger, but more QRM. K5K was
MUCH stronger on the X7, by at least 10-12db. the dipole tips are N/S, so
broadside east and west.

The X7 has a 4 ele log cell with a separate 15 and 20m reflector, and a 3
band trapped director. Can anyone give me some insight how this antenna
can do so well on 12 and 17m, and also work on 40m? It is a Tribander.

I started a fresh log when I put up the antenna in July, and Totals are below:
Available 334
MIX, 231
PHO, 231
160m
80m
40m, 3
20m,113
17m,78
15m,124
12m,107
10m,117

This is from a Tribander... I am very pleased. 73/DX, Bruce
