I think this is the crux of the issue. MFJ makes inexpensive products
(mostly) for general ham users. I cannot afford a Nye tuner, and frankly
don't need one; my MFJ unit does what I need it to. OTOH, I am a casual user
running 100W barefoot to a simple dipole fed with ladder line, just like
thousands of other hams.

MFJ allows someone like me, a more-or-less blue collar, one-income family
man, to afford to enjoy this hobby. While there is a definite place for
high-end ham gear, do not forget that there is a market for low end gear
too. Without MFJ, Alinco, Radio-Shack and others like them, new hams would
be shut out of this hobby.

PS, I drive a Kia too; I'd be willing to drive a BMW if someone wants to buy
me one.....
