[TowerTalk] Open Wire Spacers

I have been following the discussions re open wire with much interest,
especially the issue of spacer longevity.

No-one has mentioned one option which seems obvious.

The power companies often use fibreglass rod (the type with a polished
surface) to keep wires apart in areas of high wind.

I have used some of this rod (about 1/4 inch diameter) with suitable holes
drilled across the diameter and tie wires to hold in place.

The fibreglass lasts almost forever, and seems to have excellent long term
insulation properties, but I am not sure of the dielectric properties.

ANY COMMENTS FROM THOSE KNOWLEDGABLE ON THE LIST?

Cheers
