I finally have my KT34A put together after spending two years new in the
box.

I have noticed that the overall physical length of the rear driven
element is nearly if not a little longer than the reflector. I double
checked the dimensions in the manual and everything appears to be as
written in the manual. Is what I am seeing correct?

I have reached the point were I am ready to do some preliminary VSWR
measurements before placing the antenna on the tower. The manual
recommends that I place the antenna about 8 to 10 foot off the ground to
do these VSWR measurements. When I was younger I remember guys would
take preliminary VSWR readings just by pointing the beam straight up in
to the sky with the reflector on the ground. Is the first method
described in the KLM manual better?

Thanks for the Help,
The internet has really helped me enhance my amateur radio hobby.
