Hi Guys,
I would very much like to know of any reliable and high quality
soldering guns out there in the 100 - 140 watt range. It will be used
outdoors in wind and cold temps. (New England winter) not just indoors.
I have used the Weller 100/140 watt model that Home Depot and Radio
Shack sells but I have found it to be unreliable and maddening because
of those stupid little nuts that you have to constantly tighten to
ensure a adequate heat/good contact with the tip and even then it does
not work well! It is NOT reliable in its current form and that is not
an acceptable option for me.
Any help as to brand, price, manufacturer would be most appreciated.
Again the most important things are high heat, great reliability
and ability to use in harsh winter conditions.
With respect to solder, I use a thin Alphametals .032" diameter 60/40
Rosin core solder that I picked up at a hamfest years ago. I am
wondering if anyone uses this and knows where to get it? In comes in a
1 lb spool and is great to use (as opposed to the thicker 60/40 Rosin
core stuff). Getting out to hamfests is not an option now so i need a
commercial source for the stuff.
Thanks for your help!
