Joe:

My C3SS is pretty much useless on 17 meters with a VSWR of approximately
10:1. 12 meters is within the capture range of my automatic antenna tuner
with a VSWR of approximately 4:1. The design frequencies of 10, 15 and 20
meters are all quite good so I have no reason to believe that my C3SS is
defective. I have been told that the C3 and C3E are much better on 17
meters. The problem is apparently related to the linear loading on the 20
meter elements. I inquired with Force 12 about upgrading my C3SS to a C3S by
replacing the 20 meter elements but was told that the other elements and the
element spacing are different as well. Force 12 says the C3S is better than
the C3SS on 17 meters so I am now considering totally replacing my C3SS with
a C3S. I modeled the C3S and C3SS with EZNEC and the simulations predict
that the C3S is much better than the C3SS on 17 meters. On the positive
side, I have found that my C3SS is very effective on 6 meters with a VSWR of
approximately 3:1.

I'd appreciate owner comments regarding performance of the Force C-3, C-3S,
and C-3SS on 12 and 17 meters. Thanks, Joe K7MKS
