[Towertalk] Hy=Gain 402BA-S

Your antenna must be an antique.  HyGain's shorty 40's have been called the
"Discoverer Series" (1, 2, and 3 element versions) for about 20 years now.
The old 402BA's had high RF voltage present at the boom insulators on the
driven element and arced over all the time, even with modest power like 500
watts or so.  I have had the newer 3 element version up for a long time and
it handles 1500 watts with no problems.  HyGain changed the locations of the
insulators and the way the "folded" portions of the elements are mounted
eliminating the arc-over problems.
