I ran into the same problem as you when I originally installed my M2 rotor.
In my case I have a bundle of waterproof romex going out to my 130' tower
which is 350' from the house. The problem is that PWM noise (mine is DC
motor type) from the motor leads was coupling into the pulse circuit. If you
look at the signal with a oscilloscope you can see the PWM noise. Since one
side of the pulse was ground, I connected both outer conductors of the romex
(3w x 16ga) to ground and used the conductor in the physical center of the
romex for the pulse. It cleaned up the PWM noise and the reading is
accurate. .
