[Towertalk] Swinging Gates

While the limit switches aren't needed to prevent damage to the tower, if
you happen to wedge the brake while you are tight up against a leg, you
may not be able to "rock" it enough to get it unstuck. I would certainly
put some softer material here around the leg to give a bit of play. While
this may not have happened to everyone, believe me it is a matter of
"when" not "if". This is a well known feature of the wedge brake in the
HyGain rotors. It isn't fun climbing up in the middle of a contest to
manually rock it to unstick it - been there. The wind never blows from the
right direction in these cases either! Dozens of people related similar
brake issues to me at our booth (AlfaSpid Rotators) at Dayton. To further
accomodate side mount users, we plan to offer digital limits in our
control unit so you can program them as needed. This is NOT in the current
model but is in the works as a result of your comments at Dayton. All the
earlier control units can be upgraded with an inexpensive plug in chip, we
have no intention of obsoleting anyone.
