Force(weight) = GmM/r^2s, one becomes lighter as one climbs...
G=G=6.67390 x 10-11 m3/kg/s2
M=mass of earth
m=climbers mass
r=distance between mass centers

you are talking shear stress,tower parallel to the geoid
no need to climb, it will be on the ground :-)
