    What do you want your tower/antenna system to do? Chase DX? Rag chew with 
other hams in the US? What bands?

    Nonetheless the key concept is "the higher the better". Can you have a 
tower with guy wires or does it have to be self-supporting? What's your budget? 

    That should get you started.
