[TowerTalk] Erections (Tower)

Froggy,

I have an HG52SS. My version of this tower DOES NOT USE BOLTS in the
concrete base!!!!!

My HG52SS uses a rebar cage with 1/4" steel tabs welded to the tops of the
five-foot long #8 rebar &1-1/2 foot #5 rebar and which are drilled for 3/4"
bolts to engage SIX (two in each leg) matching holes in tabs welded to each
leg of the lower tower section. These bolts are short and horizontal and
serve only to pin the base tabs to the matching tabs on the tower. HY-Gain,
in it's current incarnation might be a source for a new foundation. When I
last priced one it was about $300.00. It's a design that can be fabricated
by obtaining the stress calcs and duplicating the drawings in there, but
unless you're a master welder and can obtain the "good" rebar, leave the
work to a good welding shop and make sure they use the correct rebar,
electrodes, etc.

I have the documentation and can make copies if you wish; but PLEASE don't
guess at the foundation configuration. It is unique to this tower.

Are you SURE it's an HG-52SS? Something sounds strange here...maybe this is
a design mod.....????? Anyone....anyone?

Chuck, N4NM
