It is possible to be  "Compliant" without being Registered.
Registration requires audit by a licensed Resistrarer.  When I review
supplier info, if I see the word compliant I request a copy of their
"certificate" check this against registrarers and the ISO Registered
companies.

Yes ISO really says Say What You do and DO What You Say.  And true best
method is to NOT be too detailed in your procedures.  BTW, we have 1
full time internal auditor (ex-QA MAnager who is also Management Rep and
1 part time auditor).

Just went thru our External audit 2 weeks ago: Passed with minor
comments.
