Hi Bill:
Well, congrats on both the new house and the first tower ! I went through
the same thing a couple of years ago, and THIS reflector walked me all the
way through the process. One generous soul even sent me his snapshots of his
setup through the mail with the request to send them back when I was done
with them.
What I did, as relates to your question, is to trench around the side of the
house to the main ground rod and drill in ground rods about every 16 feet
(twice the length of a ground rod). Tie in with the utility ground using 3"
copper strapping and proceed to your single point ground (SPG) panel. Your
tower ground grid will also tie in to this same point. That's it !

Subject: [TowerTalk] Utility GND / Tower GND interconnection question
I've been reading all the discussion on tower grounding over the past months
with great interest, as I'm currently building a new home and will be
erecting a US Tower TX-455 free-standing crank-up near one side of the
house. Unfortunately, the utilities ingress is on the OTHER side of the
house. It's within feet of the property line, so I can't locate the tower
there! How best to interconnect the tower and utilities grounding? Obviously
I have to go around the house -- but is there a best way to do this? I've
been a ham for a lot of years, but this will be my first tower, so I'm a
real novice when it comes to this stuff.
