[TowerTalk] Problems with IC 706 Mk II

Be sure to check your 12 volt supply voltage -- maybe a poor connection.  The 
706 is very sensitive to low supply voltage. (note your comment  that it 
works a little better when the engine is running). Check out the mobile  operation 
with an external, fixed 13 volt supply and see if the problem  goes away.
 
I  use a Battery Booster on mine and all is OK.
