[TowerTalk] Problems with IC 706 Mk II

Many rigs are sensitive to supply voltage, my old FT-757 was
especially bad. What I have always done is locate a small
(~5 Ah) gel cell battery right at the radio, so the radio will
reliably have at least 12V at all times. I then keep this
little battery charged by plugging it into the cigarette lighter
socket. This scheme also avoids running thick leads to the car
battery. (The drawback of this is that you can't talk for hours
with the engine turned off; otoh, you will never run down your
car battery with the radio).
