Further to my email, I use a Hi-Q coil at the antenna base to resonate the 
V80 on 160. The V80 is 68 feet long. You
might want to try that and not bother replacing the broken 15 foot section. 
Mine works VERY well on 160 using that feed
method, per W8JI's suggestion.
