[TowerTalk] C-31XR vs. 4 el. SteppIR

I did a fairly detailed computer model study of these two antennae, looking at gain in particular.  You can read it at http://www.k6if.com/ .

My summary was that even with fixed element spacing, the 4 element SteppIR delivers gain approximating that of a well designed 5 element monobander on 10 and 15 meters, and that it is consistently better than the C-31 by a small amount.
