[TowerTalk] 40 Meters

At the risk of sounding really stupid and having never had  an
antenna that I could point for 40 M (those days changing  soon), I will risk
stating that perhaps the 40 meter signals  you seek are coming long path.
 
Many, many years ago, I was trying to work EP2AF from  Hawaii (20 M).
My, then, XYL was very stressed when I  came home after work and spent
hours trying to figure how to slip in between all the CA  stations.  Never
heard the fellow over 3 months of trying!!  One evening,  I turned the
cheapo beam around and Lo and behold,  EP2AF called me long path!!
Worked every WAZ station in that area in  the next half hour.
