You're too far east to see it from your area.
EU sunset is generally after sunrise here so it
doesn't line up right for darkness at each end
of the path. From here (NC), long path on the low
bands generally aligns with Central and SE Asia.
From Colorado it aligns with Europe nicely except
for far Western EU. About the farthest West I
ever worked on 80m LP from Colorado was OZ. W6 and
especially NW W7 can easily work farther West into
G for example, because their sunrise is later.
Morning long path from W6/W7 is so common that
I would say it is the predominant way EU/Middle East
is worked. You really need to look at a projection of
the greyline from different areas of the country to
see this. It's difficult to visualize until you do.
Said another way, everyone has long path openings
at about the same time of day (before sunrise and
after sunset), but where they fall depends on your
relative location.
