I use the IC-775DSP with 87A built in 1995 and later upgraded with Alphamax.
No alc connection has ever been used.  The only fault ever produced is when
I forget to turn down the power level on the 775 which over-excites the amp.

Speaking of over-exciting, I often wonder what the 87A would put out if the
auto-fault did not engage when driving with 200 watts.  Do you suppose it
would melt the plates?
