Re desire for a 3 el Stepper later & need for a lighter antenna for a 9 foot roof mount 
now.

Why not buy the 3 el Stepper now plus manuals for 2 el Steppers & upgrade of 2 el to 3 el 
Steppers.

Surely it would be possible to temporarily construct  a 2 el Stepper using parts that come 
with the 3 el version.

Plus you would be set for a 3 el Stepper later.
