[TowerTalk] Rohn 55 thimbles and turnbuckles

You recommend a 1/2" shackle, while Frank says a 3/8" shackle would  be
ideal. Do you see any problem with using a 3/8" shackle for my  terminations?

A few years ago a front end loader caught one the lower guys on the tower  
consisting of a 1/4 inch guy, BIG 3/4 inch turnbuckles, and a 3/8 heavy  
thimble.  The guy wire broke, the guy grip held and the thimble was  distorted, but 
not too badly.  And the 3/4 inch turnbuckle?....like nothing  ever happened
 
Moral...guy grips DO hold,  the 3/8 thimble held just fine and bigger  is 
better when using turnbuckles.
