I forgot to mention that usually there is a saddle between the mast and 
antenna mounting plate and the u-bolt squeezes everything together.  It is 
important that the radius of the saddle and U-bolt match your mast size.

The subject line says that the beam is slipping on the mast and not in the
rotator.  If you install the Yaseu DXA1000 per the instructions, it will not
slip without breaking something.  I am not familiar with SteppIR's mounting
brackets, however most antennas are mounted with U-Bolts around a mast.  Are
you using the correct size mast and of sufficient strength to not collapse
when tightening?  Where the mounting bolts tight when you installed the
antenna?.  The element SteppIR is not a big antenna and slipping should not
be a problem, especially in only 30MPH winds.

The rotor is a yeasu dxa1000 so a realignment is not an option. Also I have
a 2m ssb above it so it would be nice to have both pointing same direction.
Either way, I will have to move the beam, but need to prevent it from
happening again.

Some are suggesting another clamp brand Tennadyne Slipp-Nott.  But did not
know if putting a bolt through the mount plat and mast would help or be a
bad idea.
