Hi Randy,
 
You were right, its an old Heights Tower. They beefed it up on their later  
models.
 
After reading their documents I don't understand why we don't see more of  
these tower. They are un-guyed so there are no guy-wires that give us problems  
to put up antennas, they are made of aluminum so there are hardly any 
corrosion  problems. Even if they are a little more expensive than e.g. Rohn you only  
need one foot compare to four for a "normal" guyed tower.

I once had an AL tower I originally *thought*  was Heights, but it was in 
10' sections, and their website says that they  never made
anything but 8', and mine had the taper the "wrong" way. I have,  on the 
ground, a tower I got in 8' sections, which I suspect was
made  by Heights, and it too tapers "wrong". I agree with you 100%, but 
it  appears at least 2 different mfr's made AL towers with
the same sort of  taper, must be a reason for it.
Remember, though, concrete will eat AL, so  you must use something 
different for the base...
At any rate, I hope  you can get the sections you need. If it turns out 
that I'm right, maybe  you will post it to the  list?
