BUT -- be VERY careful where you connect the ground for a surge 
suppressor. It should needs a short, low impedance (at RF) path to 
the STAR ground. If it goes somewhere else, in the event of a 
strike, it could easily raise the voltage at whatever point you 
choose to connect it and blow up equipment connected to that point. 
See the discussion about the problems with shunt-mode surge 
suppression at www.surgex.com.  These folks make excellent series-
mode surge suppressors, but only for power wiring, not for signal 
wiring.
