[TowerTalk] Surface rust removal

Has anyone tried that CLR (Calcium, Lime, Rust Remover) stuff on towers?
I'm sure it would work on the rust but I'm not familiar with the chemical
process so I don't know what effect it might have on the zinc.

What can be used to remove mild surface rust (without sanding) from a Rohn
25G standing tower without causing any damage to the tower. I have cold
galvanizing compound to put on after the rust is removed.
